FlexGain 4XE

FlexGain 4XE is a flexible and multipurpose cross-connect system. In combination with FlexDSL modem families and FlexGain Plex multiplexers, FlexGain 4XE allows building access and transport networks of nearly any topology. It is optimal as an add-drop node for GSM base stations and subscriber and data connections along railways, pipelines, highways. At the Central Office (CO) side the 4XE can be effectively used for creating star topologies (point-to-multipoint) with time-slot management in leased line networks. If CAS signaling is used by the switch and remote concentrators/multiplexers are not CAS compatible, FlexGain 4XE can be used as signal converter.

Centralized management is another important application of FlexGain 4XE. In many cases, remote network nodes have no other connection to the central management station then TDM based transport networks. In this scenario the only transport media available for the management information are time-slots in the E1 stream. FlexGain 4XE can be used for both, encapsulation of the management information into a 64K time-slot on the central network side or for conversion of this information into RS-232 based management interfaces on the remote side. Furthermore, the FlexGain 4XE can be utilized to configure remote FlexGain shelves as well as any remote control of other network elements supporting VT100-type management interfaces.

FlexGain 4XE is a subrack card that can be installed in any FlexDSL mechanic.
